Patterson Gives Back – Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we were honored to partner with the Wichita Police Department to recognize and highlight an often underreported form of domestic violence – strangulation. If you are the victim of strangulation, seek immediate medical care, or call 911.Β
The Wichita Police Department recognizes non-fatal strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence. Strangulation is a high-risk indicator for future serious assaults and homicide. Strangulation is often underreported, leaving no signs of visible injuries. However, death and other serious long-term medical conditions such as carotid artery dissection, respiratory complications, and the risk of blood clots traveling to the brain can occur days or weeks after an attack.

Patterson Gives Back – Habitat For Humanity
Ann Fox is someone who inspires all of us to be better leaders. She works tirelessly teaching ordinary people how to do extraordinary things through Wichita Habitat for Humanity. This was one of the biggest highlights of the year, getting to put this video together with Ann to highlight Habitat’s incredible work. Habitat doesn’t just give away houses, it looks at the bigger picture… teaching people to be responsible homeowners, learning how to pay for and maintain a home. All of this guides people on a path towards financial independence.

McAdams Academy Visit
We had the pleasure to tour and deliver computers to McAdams Academy last week as they kicked off the new school year! π₯³π₯³π₯³
Statistics show that 1.3 million children drop out of school every year and we know that a third of those become involved in criminal activity. McAdams Academy is an alternative, trauma-informed private school in the ICT. Students are high-risk youths in middle school or high school who do not have access to a structured learning environment. Students can earn high school credits while working on their problem behavior through the many programs available to them at McAdams. ππ€π€
Executive Director, Dr. Chuck Knowles, is a true treasure to the community. He is a wonderful leader who is inspired by an ongoing vision for McAdams Academy. βWe are seeing a lot of kids expelled from our public schools. They have nowhere to go and that is why McAdams is here,β states Knowles.Β πππ
