The Alano Club

The Alano Club of St. Joseph provides a safe space for recovery groups, fellowship, and support. 💙 They’re a community where people in recovery lift each other up, share their journeys, and build a life of freedom together. 🕊️

  • Founded in 1948, the Alano Club started as a four-bed hospital to assist alcoholics with detox and with AA meetings.
  • It is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. They are self-governing, with a board and officers. It is independent—not run by AA or any single group.
  • Their mission: to support individuals in recovery from addiction—helping improve life quality, not just via abstinence, but through healthier relationships, stability, family, jobs, finances.
  • They host 17 recovery meetings per week, and get around 600 individual visits monthly.
  • They recently moved facility: sold their mansion in December 2022, got a new facility at 1519 South 10th St, St. Joseph, MO, and opened that in May 2023.
  • They don’t diagnose or treat mental health (not a mental health clinic), more a fellowship/ community of recovery.
